The short version
UnReal GO holds your boards, notes, and progress. We use that data to run the app for you. We don't sell it, don't share it with advertisers, and don't train models on it.
- Your private boards and notes are visible only to you.
- Notes you publish to your feed are visible to the people who follow you (or to everyone, if you mark them public).
- You can export everything you've written at any time, and delete your account from inside the app.
Who runs UnReal GO
UnReal GO is operated by UnReal GO Labs, a small independent team. If you want to reach a human about anything on this page, write to hello@unrealgo.app.
For privacy-specific questions you can use the same address with the subject line "Privacy" and we'll route it to whoever is on-call that week.
What we collect, and why
We try to collect as little as possible. Here is everything that touches our servers:
- Account basics — an email address and a chosen username. The email is used for sign-in, password resets, and rare service emails. Nothing marketing.
- Boards and squares — the habits you've created and the days you've tapped. This is the core of the product; without it there is no app.
- Notes — the short reflections you write next to your boards, including their visibility setting (private, followers-only, public).
- Social graph — who you follow, who follows you, who you've liked, and the comments you've left.
- Device info — operating system, browser, and a coarse country (derived from IP). Used to debug crashes and roll out features.
- Diagnostics — anonymised crash reports and aggregate usage counts (e.g. "how many people opened Progress this week"). Never tied to your account.
We do not collect contacts, location data, microphone, camera, health data, or anything from your phone that we don't strictly need.
How we use it
To show you your own boards and notes. To deliver notifications when someone likes or comments on a public note of yours. To answer support emails when you write in. To find and fix bugs.
That is the whole list. We do not profile you, target ads, or build a marketing dossier on you.
Public notes and the social feed
Notes are private by default. You decide, per note, whether to keep it private, share it with followers, or make it public.
Public notes are visible to anyone who lands on your profile or finds them via the Explore feed. They are crawlable by search engines unless your profile is private. Once a note is public, assume the internet has it.
You can change visibility or delete any note at any time. Deletion removes the note from our servers within seven days; backups age out within 30.
How long we keep things
Active account data is kept for as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, we delete your boards, squares, notes, and social graph from production within seven days and from encrypted backups within 30 days.
Anonymised diagnostics and aggregate metrics are kept for up to 13 months. They cannot be tied back to you.
Support emails are kept for two years so we can recognise repeat issues.
Your rights
You can do all of the following from inside the app, on any plan, at any time:
- See everything we have on file for you.
- Export your boards and notes as JSON or CSV.
- Edit or delete any piece of your content.
- Delete your entire account.
If you live somewhere with stronger privacy rules — for example the EU (GDPR), UK, California (CCPA/CPRA), or Brazil (LGPD) — you also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Email us first, please; we'd rather fix the thing than read a complaint.
How we protect it
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted on disk. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt — we never see the plaintext.
Only a small handful of engineers can access production, and access is logged. We have a written incident-response plan; if a breach affects you, we will tell you within 72 hours.
Children
UnReal GO is not designed for people under 13 (or under 16 in parts of the EU). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone in that age range. If you believe a child has signed up, write to hello@unrealgo.app and we'll remove the account.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material on this page, we'll email you and post a banner in the app at least seven days before the change takes effect. Smaller edits (typos, clarifications) we'll just publish; the "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent change.
